A Florida man ended an argument with another man over the weekend by pouring gasoline over the other man and lighting him on fire.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said Earl Hargrove Jr. and another man got into a verbal dispute at a Mobil gas station in Tampa, Fox News reported.
With the dispute seemingly over, Hargrove bought some gas at the pump, poured on the other man, and set him ablaze.
The other man’s identity was not released, but he was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Hargrove has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
“A verbal argument should never escalate to this level of violence,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “This suspect’s behavior is not only deplorable but will never be tolerated in our community.”
Hargrove is currently being held without bond.
