Chicago police have alerted residents and businesson on the city’s Southwest, West, and Northwest sides of a string of armed robberies and carjackings they believe were carried out by the same suspects.
Investigators say three or four suspects carried out each of the nearly 50 incidents since April 22, all wearing black ski masks, dark clothing, and blue gloves. They were traveling in a stolen vehicle, police said.
The typical targets were food vendors and people leaving for work in the early mornings.
One such incident took place in the Hermosa neighborhood and was captured on video, WMAQ reported.
Police cautioned residents to be aware of their surroundings and contact police as soon as it’s safe to do so in the event of a robbery.
