New details have been released about the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s time in jail and the period leading up to his death, The Associated Press reports.
Documents obtained by the news organization show that when Epstein was booked into the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan on July 6, 2019, he reported having had more than 10 female sexual partners within the previous five years.
Epstein also disclosed that he was treated for chlamydia.
In the weeks leading up to his death on August 10, 2019, which has been ruled a suicide, the documents paint a picture of deteriorating mental and physical health.
The 66-year-old billionaire had sleep apnea, hypertension, constipation, prediabetes and lower back pain.
After his cell toilet broke, Epstein appeared agitated and he had difficulty sleeping. In one instance he was observed in the corner of the cell with his hands over his ears because the toilet would not stop running. Other times, guards saw Epstein “with his head against the wall.”
And when the sex predator was denied bail in July 2019, he attempted suicide but failed and was then placed on suicide watch.
Following that incident, Epstein allegedly told a psychologist that he did not want to harm himself and had a “wonderful life,” according to WABC-TV.
The evening before Epstein committed suicide, he reportedly left a meeting with his lawyers so he could call his mother, who had died 15 years earlier.
In as assessment of Epstein’s death, one official wrote that “the idea of potentially spending his life in prison were likely factors contributing to Mr. Epstein’s suicide,” according to the AP.
