The ex-boyfriend of missing Minnesota mother Madeline Kingsbury has been arrested, KARE 11 reports.
Adam Fravel, 29, was booked into the Winona County Detention Center shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to the facility’s booking log.
Authorities confirmed the charge is related to Kingsbury’s disappearance in a social media statement Wednesday night.
The Winona Police said on Facebook:
A Fillmore County deputy found human remains on Wednesday afternoon north of Mabel, Minnesota. The body was found in some brush off Highway 43 and was located using information generated during the Madeline Kingsbury investigation. Because of this, law enforcement personnel have arrested Adam Fravel on probable cause in connection to her disappearance. Numerous members of the Winona Police Department, the Winona County Sheriff’s Office, the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office, the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crimes Enforcement Team, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) agents and crime scene personnel, and the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office are working as quickly as possible to positively identify the remains. We are asking the community to respect the family’s privacy at this time and not to speculate on the case until further information is made available. We will share an update tomorrow once we have more information confirmed.”
Kingsbury, 26, was last seen March 31 after dropping off her two young children at a daycare in Winona, Minnesota.
Kingsbury is believed to have returned to her home after leaving the daycare with Adam Fravel, the father of the two children, and did not show up for work at the Mayo Clinic.
The children’s father told police that he left the home in Kingsbury’s minivan at around 10 a.m. and when he came back later that day, she was gone from the residence, according to KTTC-TV.
A vehicle matching the van’s description, a dark blue Chrysler Town and County, was spotted traveling on area county roads and highways between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. that day, according to NBC News. However, authorities have not said who was driving the van during this time or whether they have that information.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Fravel and Kingsbury lived together but they were no longer in a relationship, and Kingsbury was looking to move into a home when she went missing.
Fravel has previously denied any responsibility for her disappearance.
Five days after Kingsbury went missing, child welfare authorities tried to take custody of the two kids. Fravel, who does not have custodial rights to the children, allegedly brought the younger child into a home, locked the door, and yelled profane statements at social workers, according to KTTC-TV.
