Six men were shot, three of them fatally, in a domestic dispute turned deadly Sunday night in Annapolis, Maryland.
Anne Arundel County Police Chief Edward Jackson said that officers were called to the home at about 8 p.m., WBAL reported. The three fatalities were pronounced dead at the scene.
A person of interest is in custody, he said, but has not been named a suspect or charged.
Jackson said the dead victims ranged in age from early 20s to about 50. Although he said detectives have not yet determined a motive for the shooting, the chief characterized it as “an interpersonal dispute” and said there was no threat to the public.
The wounded people were all taken to area hospitals, he said, and were all adults. He said the person of interest and the victims knew one another, but detectives have not sorted out their relationsips. The neighborhood, he said, was relatively quiet and not normally the scene of violent acts.
“This can happen anywhere. Nothing gets resolved with the use of a gun,” Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley said.
Neighbors told WBAL they heard the gunshots and saw multiple people in front of the house but had no other information.
Jackson said the investigation was ongoing and no further information was available.
