A Chicago woman has been found after vanishing during a trip to Japan earlier this month.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Kandace Schipper, 29, traveled to Japan on May 8 and last contacted her family on June 4, which was unusual since she had been sending messages daily. Then, this week, she was found safe, CBS News reports.
Although it’s unclear where and how she was found, Schipper’s sister posted an announcement on Facebook after she had been located.
“We’re relieved to share that we’ve obtained our beloved daughter, sister and cousin Kandace Schipper’s location,” her sister, Nicole Willea, wrote Wednesday. “We’re grateful for every email, call, and share and are now focused on bringing her home safely.”
“After going through this process, we’re overwhelmed by the kindness of so many strangers. From Chicago to Tokyo, we were met with so much support and eagerness to help us find our loved one and have empathy for anyone seeking missing family members.”
It’s unclear at this time whether a man Schipper had traveled with, identified as a man she traveled with, Luis Torres, 27, was also found. The Independent reports that Schipper’s family said they’ve not been in touch with him.
