California Woman Charged With Murder After She Calls 911 – From a Hospital – to Report ‘Suspicious Death’

California authorities have arrested a 55-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son in connection with the shooting death of their roommate on Wednesday.

The woman, Ruth Cecile Wieser, called 911 from a local hospital — where she went for an undisclosed medical issue Wednesday morning — to report a suspicious death at her home, KXTV reported.

Deputies found a man dead from at least one gunshot, according to Sacremento County Sheriff’s Sgt. Amar Gandhi, who said there was evidence that more rounds were fired.

Wieser was arrested on a murder charge, according to jail records, while her son, Joseph Jon Thomason, has been charged with being an accessory. He also had three unrelated misdemeanor warrants. Both are being held without bail and are due back in court on Friday.

The victim’s name has not been released, and investigators have not given a motive for the shooting.
