‘Rip upward to his throat’: Florida Woman Kills Boyfriend After Threatening to Gut Him ‘Like a deer,’ Friend Says

A Florida woman is behind bars after she allegedly threatened to “slice her ex-boyfriend like she was gutting a deer” two days before she killed him.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, Brittany Holbrook, 33, is accused of shooting Tyler Nulisch, 30, in the back at their Key West residence early Saturday morning. Two days prior to the incident, Holbrook went out for drinks with a woman who was in a relationship with one of Nulisch’s friends.

“I’m going to kill him and take a knife into his stomach and rip upward to his throat,” Holbrooks reportedly told Jessica Stiegel.

Stiegel claimed Holbrook told her she was having fun while they chatted, but as Holbrook continued to drink, her behavior became increasingly reckless. Stiegel said Holbrook was typically a friendly person until she consumed alcohol.

“She seemed so normal most of the time but when she drank, she’d become a monster and a switch would flip, and she’d start screaming and throwing things and hitting Tyler,” Stiegel said.

Police say at around 3 a.m., Jordan Kinn, identified as the couple’s roommate, woke up in their second-floor apartment to the sound of Holbrook yelling for help.

Police found Nulisch found lying on his back in a pool of blood when they arrived at the apartment. According to the police report, Nulisch responded, “That woman shot me in the back,” when responding officers asked him what happened.

Nulisch was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center but he died around an hour later.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Holbrook told detectives “there was a gap in her memory” when questioned about the shooting, claiming she had been drinking.

In a later interview, she claimed Nulisch attacked her, held her against the wall, and choked her. Police, however, said she showed no visible signs of being choked.

“Holbrook stated she punched and scratched Nulisch,” the affidavit said.

“Bruising on several knuckles on her right hand were observed. Holbrook stated she believed Nulisch was attempting to kill her. She continued to claim there was a gap in her memory and she did not remember how she was able to get away from Nulisch. Holbrook stated she had not fired a gun since moving from Stuart, Florida over nine months ago.”

Holbrook was charged with murder and booked into the Monroe County Jail.
