Cops Break Down Door to Mother Trying to Drown Toddler She’d Already Stabbed

Police in Albion, Michigan, rushed to the scene Saturday morning after a 15-year-old girl called 911 for help and dispatchers heard children screaming in the background of the call.

Officers who arrived on the scene heard a commotion behind a locked door and kicked it in to find a woman holding a toddler under the water in the bathtub. The officer took the 2-year-old girl from the woman and took her into another room and began CPR.

“After giving a few quick breaths, the child coughed up water and began breathing on her own,” the Albion Department of Public Safety said in a statement.

The girl was also found to have two stab wounds to the chest and throat, and a 4-year-old boy on the scene also had cuts. Both may have ingested cleaning fluid, olice said. They taken to a hospital in Jackson and later flown to Ann Arbor, where they were last known to be in stable condition.

Two other children in the house — the 15-year-old who called for help and an 8-year-old — did not appear to have any injuries.

The 35-year-old mother of all four children was taken into custody and also transported to a hospital because she may have also ingested cleaning fluid.

Investigators have not identified the suspect or said what charges she may face.
