A Georgia prison employee was allegedly caught on Friday sexually assaulting an inmate who is serving a life sentence for shooting a woman in the face during a 2012 robbery.
The Augusta Press reported that Faatimah Maddox, 30, a surgical technician at Augusta State Medical Prison, admitted to having multiple encounters with Joshua Demery, 36. Maddox allegedly also stated that she is three to four months pregnant and Demery could be the father.
On Friday, prison staff was conducting a head count when they could not locate Demery. Eventually, guards reportedly found Demery and Maddox in an operating room that had not been used in two years, according to The Augusta Press.
The news outlet reported that prison staff also located sheets soiled with hair and bodily fluids in that inactive operating room.
Maddox was charged with sexual assault by a person with supervisory or disciplinary authority, as prisoners cannot provide consent. She remains jailed without bond.
