Bond was denied during a weekend court hearing for a Florida teen accused of stabbing his former girlfriend and several others who tried to intervene.
According to News4Jax, a St. Augustine judge denied bond for 18-year-old Spencer Pearson on Saturday, in connection with an attempted murder charge. Spencer was granted a $100,000 bond for aggravated assault charges.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, an arrest warrant from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office indicated that Pearson was at Mr. Chubby’s Wings restaurant off Valley Circle in Ponte Verde Beach earlier this month, when he spotted his former girlfriend, along with her friend and her mother, at the establishment.
The victims, identified as 17-year-old Madison Schemitz (Pearson’s ex), her mother, Jackie Rogé, and a friend, Casey Estep, had walked into the restaurant for lunch but quickly tried to leave when they spotted Pearson.
Pearson is accused of following the trio outside, where he began stabbing Madison in the arm. When her mother tried to intervene, Pearson allegedly stabbed her, too, before a bystander stepped in to help. Pearson then stabbed the bystander before turning the knife on himself and cutting his own throat.
The incident unfolded after Pearson allegedly engaged in persistent harassment and stalking toward Madison. The arrest warrant states that Madison broke up with the defendant in April, leading to Pearson threatening her with violence before the attack.
Documents obtained by First Coast News indicate that Jacki Rogé filed an incident report in April after Pearson allegedly began harassing Madison, following their breakup.
The accusation alleges that Spencer harassed Madison on social media, left notes on her car, and followed “her on her way to school.” Rogé also alleged that Pearson was grappling with mental health issues and previously made suicidal statements.

According to family members, Madison sustained spinal cord injuries during the attack, which caused paralysis. Jacki Rogé endured two stab wounds, one on her forehead and another on her leg, officials said, according to First Coast News.
The bystander who intervened, identified as Kennedy Armstrong, sustained severe cuts to his right hand.
Madison’s sister, Tatiana Cruceta, told First Coast News that Madison is a “fighter” and a star softball player at Ponte Vedra High School, who had been avoiding Pearson following the breakup.
According to SJSO, Pearson is being held in “special housing” due to his high risk of self-harm. Mental health professionals are reportedly on hand to meet with him.
The judge ordered Spencer to have no contact with the victim’s family, stay at least 1,500 feet away from them, and stay away from Mr. Chubby’s Wings. His next court date is not yet known.
