Teen Stabs Mom Multiple Times with Kitchen Knife for Interfering with His ‘Life Choices’: Police

An 18-year-old teen was arrested in Florida last week for allegedly stabbing his mother during a dispute concerning his life decisions and the family dog.

According to an affidavit obtained by Law & Crime, 18-year-old Charles C. Soutier is behind bars on attempted murder charges at the Volusia County jail. Police took him into custody at around 9:46 a.m., after detaining him at his Daytona Beach Shores home.

While speaking with investigators, Soutier said his mother kept pushing him to “get his life together,” which made him furious. He then allegedly stabbed her numerous times with a small knife he pulled from a knife block.

“During the argument, Charles Soutier stated his mother told him he needed to get his life together,” the affidavit stated. “Charles Soutier advised this angered him to the point he wanted to stab her. Charles Soutier admitted to going to the knife block, picking out the smallest knife, and placing it in the ninth knife block spot so he knew where it was.”

The mother was stabbed three times, and sustained wounds on her left arm, left shoulder, and base of her neck.

Before the stabbing, according to the affidavit, Soutier went out to dinner with his brother and mother; he told police everything was fine at the time. When they arrived back home, he said everyone went to bed, but the following morning, a dispute broke out in the kitchen.

The defendant’s mother reportedly told him to let her know if the family dog, who has pancreatitis, had diarrhea since the pup has medical needs. The conversation turned into a heated dispute as the mother allegedly pushed Soutier to do better with his life choices.

During the argument, the victim reportedly screamed at the defendant, threw a gallon of milk on the floor, and started walking toward the stairs when Soutier grabbed the knife.

“I will f****** kill you,” Soutier allegedly said while following his mother up the stairs.

Soutier’s brother, who was upstairs at the time, helped his mother with one of the stab wounds, then confronted the defendant, who then put the knife down and walked away.

Soutier admitted that he planned to kill his mother if she decided to fight back, according to the affidavit.

Meanwhile, the victim told police she was making coffee last Thursday morning when the defendant walked into the kitchen and started yelling at her about an argument they had the night prior.

She said her son then grabbed a knife and stabbed her, then chased her as she ran up the stairs, in an attempt to keep stabbing her.

“Charles Soutier initially advised he wanted to stab [his mother] to scare her but then advised he would have killed her if she fought back,” the affidavit read.

Soutier is being held at the Volusia County jail without bond. Check back for updates.
