On Tuesday, California officials confirmed that human remains found in the mountains on Saturday is missing actor Julian Sands.
Sands, 65, who vanished in January, was discovered by hikers at Mt. Baldy. How he died remains under investigation, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The “Room With a View” actor was reportedly a seasoned hiker. The BBC reported that when he vanished, the weather was bad in Baldy Bowl region of the San Gabriel Mountains.
San Bernardino police said initial searches for Sands had to be scrapped due to dangerous weather conditions — including possible avalanches. However, his car was located not far from where he was last seen hiking.
Though Sands’ cause of death has not been confirmed, The Weather Channel reported that a dozen people had to be rescued from Mt. Baldy and two people died in the weeks leading up to Sands’ disappearance.
