A Kentucky man was jailed early Tuesday for the shooting death of his wife.
Jordan Mykol Henning, 33, faces one count of murder-domestic violence for the incident, which took place around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, WAVE reported.
Court documents say Hardin County deputies were called about a domestic dispute in which one person was armed with a handgun. When they arrived, they found Henning’s wife with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. She died before receiving any treatment.
Lt. Col. David Lee of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office told The News-Enterprise that the Hennings began fighting at Ashley Henning’s birthday party Monday night. He said people began to leave as the fighting escalated and that neighbors took the couple’s children from the house. As they were leaving, they heard two volleys of gunshots and then saw Henning leave in a “hurried manner” and drive away.
The neighbors went back to house, saw Ashley Henning with multiple gunshot wounds, and called police.
Lee said that both Henning and his wife were active members of the military.
Henning’s arrest report says he “made numerous utterances apologizing for hurting his wife” after he was taken into custody, WAVE reported.
His arraignment is scheduled for June 30. He’s being held on a $1 million bond.
