A California woman has been arrested for the death of a toddler she was babysitting earlier this year, and police suspect more possible victims after identifying another child who suffered serious injuries while in her care.
Heather Greenman, 37, was arrested on charges of child abuse and abuse resulting in death, the Beaumont Police Department said.
A 15-month-old child died on April 26, police said Greenman told authorities the toddler fell while running and was taken to the hospital with a swelling head and bleeding on the brain.
While investigating the child’s death, police learned of a 2-year-old who had previously suffered serious injuries while in Greenman’s care. That child was not hospitalized and the injuries not reported, investigators said.
Greenman is being held on a $1 million bond and is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
