4 Colorado Children Missing from Foster Home; Parents Charged With Custody Violations

The parents of four Colorado children reported missing earlier this week are now wanted for violating custody orders, authorities in Arapahoe County say.

The four children, who range from 4 to 9 years old, were last seen on June 30. The state Bureau of Investigation issued an Endangered Missing Alert on Sunday and asked for information.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said it believes the children’s father, 47-year-old Howard Myles, took the children and that their mother, 26-year-old Clarissa Gardette is also with the group. They may be headed to Louisiana, where they have ties to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. They also have ties in Dallas, Texas, deputies said.

The children are identified as Jyron Gardette, 9; Heaven Myles, 7; Jehoward Gardette, 6; and Israel Gardette, 4.

The group is believed to be traveling in a gold Pontiac Grand Prix with dark tinted windows a sun roof.

Investigators said the children were living in a foster home, and Myles had a scheduled visit with them over the weekend. He picked them up at 3:45 p.m. on June 30 and was supposed to return them on July 2 but didn’t. Gardette is allowed only supervised visits, detectives said.

“Investigators are actively looking for Myles and Gardette in conjunction with the above warrants and to return the children to safety,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “The children are believed to be in immediate danger due to a history of neglect, child abuse, drugs, domestic violence, weapons charges and previous dangerous situations they have been placed in.”
