A Florida OnlyFans model who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death wants to find a resolution to the case “as soon as possible,” her lawyers said Friday, according to NBC Miami.
Courtney Clenney, 27, is facing a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the April 2022 killing of Christian Obumseli inside the couple’s high-end Miami condo.
Clenney, whose online persona Courtney Tailor has more than 2 million followers, alleges that she was the victim of domestic violence and that she stabbed Obumseli in self-defense to save her life.
Prosecutors, however, contend that Obumseli was the domestic violence victim and that the pair had a “tempestuous and combative” relationship, according to FOX 4.
Responding police officers allegedly found Clenney holding Obumseli in her arms as he was bleeding out.
On Friday, the judge presiding over the case held a status hearing, where lawyers for Clenney and the prosecution gave an update on where things stand. Clenney was not present.
The attorneys told the court that they are still interviewing witnesses who could testify in the trial.
“As you can imagine, she wants to get this case resolved as soon as possible. Especially since she’s innocent in this case but she understands you have to be patient, there is a process, the system has to do what it has to do,” Clenney lawyer Sabrina Puglisi said, according to NBC Miami.
Attorneys for Clenney said they do not expect the trial to begin in 2023. Clenney has not been granted bond and is being held in jail pending trial.
In addition to the criminal proceedings, Obumseli’s family is suing Clenney in a civil wrongful death claim, which was filed in April, according to FOX 4.
