Law enforcement reportedly responded to a barricade situation at Caesars Palace on the Strip in Las Vegas after a female victim was forced into a hotel room by an armed suspect.
According to News Nation Now, Commander Stephen Connell of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Bureau confirmed that a man forcefully took a woman into a guest room at around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.
“At present, she remains inside the room. We have established contact with the female, and she is confirmed to be safe,” Connell said.
Video footage captured by Fox Las Vegas shows a man tossing papers and other items out of a hotel room window, with broken glass and furniture being thrown “intermittently” for around an hour.
“It looks like he’s pretty much emptied the room of furniture,” Associated Press writer John Marshall reportedly said.
LVMPD received a domestic disturbance report at the hotel but when they tried to make contact with the occupants of the room, a male allegedly declined to open the door and asserted that he was armed.
SWAT and Crisis Negotiators were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
“We are aware of the security incident at Caesars Palace,” Caesars Entertainment said in a statement. “Our team is cooperating fully with law enforcement officers on scene who are handling the investigation.”
