Colorado police are investigating after a man was found dead on the High Line Canal Trail in unincorporated Arapahoe County early Tuesday morning.
Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Deputy John Bartmann told KMGH that investigators suspect foul play and consider the death a homicide. He did not, however, say what led them to classify the death as a homicide.
The sheriff’s office was called to the scene at about 5:30 a.m. on a section of the 71-mile irrigation and recreation canal near E. Iliff Ave. and S. Quebec St.
Bartmann told the Denver Post the man is about 40 years old and is believed to have been dead for about 24 hours when his body was found.
Detectives are searching for possible witnesses and video, although Bartmann said not many cameras in the area are pointed toward the trail because the area is largely commercial.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information to call the tip line at 720-874-8477.
