Police arrested a man Tuesday who allegedly forced a woman into a guest hotel room at Caesars Palace on the Strip in Las Vegas.
According to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police online booking log, Matthew John Ermond Mannix, 35, was arrested following an hours-long standoff. He’s been charged with resisting a public officer, disregarding the safety of a person or property, coercion with force or threat of force, and kidnapping.
Court records indicate Mannix is set to appear in court for his first hearing on Wednesday afternoon. He also reportedly has an outstanding warrant from another state.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, video footage captured by Fox Las Vegas showed the suspect tossing papers and other items out of a hotel room window, with broken glass and furniture being thrown “intermittently” for around an hour.
“It looks like he’s pretty much emptied the room of furniture,” Associated Press writer John Marshall reportedly said.
LVMPD received a domestic disturbance report at the hotel but when they tried to make contact with the occupants of the room, Mannix allegedly declined to open the door and asserted that he was armed.
SWAT and Crisis Negotiators were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
The victim appeared to be “OK,” according to Commander Stephen Connell of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Bureau.
