Police are looking for two men they say tried to kidnap a teen girl from a suburban Philadelphia mall on Wednesday.
The 14-year-old girl told investigators she was riding an escalator down from the second floor at Willow Grove Park Mall in Willow Grove and was met at the bottom by man who said his name was Alex, WCAU reported. He asked her to walk with him and extended his arm.
The girl told him she was underage and tried to step away, but he grabbed her arm and led her across the mall. According to police, she got away from him, screamed, and ran. Witnesses then blocked him from approaching the girl.
Investigators said it appeared the man was working with another man nearby. Both fled the mall after the girl got away and were last seen getting into dark gray Dodge or Chrysler minivan or crossover-type vehicle, possibly a Dodge Journey.
“Alex” is described as a Black man with a medium complexion and a goatee, between the ages of 25 and 40 with short braids. He was last seen wearing a white shirt with a large letter “C” on the back, light colored pants with a dark stripe, dark shoes with a red marking on the inside toe and light laces. He wore a unique leather bracelet with a braided metal knot on the left wrist.
The second man is described as a Black man with a medium complexion and thick facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and white and black sneakers . His sunglasses were hanging from the t-shirt collar, he had a lanyard around his neck, and his keys hung from the right front pants pocket.
Anyone who recognizes either man should call Abingdon police at 267-536-1100.
