A Washington man is behind bars after police say he attacked his wife outside of an ice cream shop Thursday morning.
According to the Soap Lake Police Department (SLPD), police arrested Samuel Montoya, 51, after he allegedly attacked his wife with a knife at the Tutti Frutti Bar ice cream shop in Soap Lake. Montoya is now facing suspicion of first-degree attempted murder.
SLPD responded to the ice cream shop at around 11:45 a.m. and found the victim lying in her own blood on a sidewalk, bleeding from the neck. She was rushed to the Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
Although her current medical status is unknown, the victim reportedly was able to tell police that her husband, identified as Montoya, cut her throat. Montoya fled the scene but later turned himself in at the Ephrata Police Department, CBS 2 reports.
Police said they’ll provide additional updates at a later time. Meanwhile, the suspect remains behind bars at the Grant County Jail.
