An indictment filed on Friday details all the charges a New York man is facing in connection with the Gilgo Beach serial killings.
The 32-page document filed in Suffolk County formally charged Rex Heuermann, 59, with killing Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello — though The New York Times reported that he is the prime suspect in the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes. Heuermann was arrested in Manhattan on Thursday.
The three slayings Heuermann is charged with carrying out occurred in 2009 and 2010, and the remains were found along Gilgo Beach in Long Island. However, investigators have found a total of nine women, a man, and a toddler deceased on the beach, as CrimeOnline reported.
According to The New York Times, the four murder victims whose bodies were wrapped in burlap and buried have been linked to Heuermann. A source told the news outlet that the remains were buried next to each other.
