Lawyer: Family of Mallory Beach Settles With Owner of Convenience Store That Sold Booze to Paul Murdaugh Before Deadly Boat Crash

An attorney for the family of Mallory Beach on Sunday confirmed that they have reached a $15 million settlement with the convenience store that allegedly sold alcohol to an underage Paul Murdaugh just hours before he crashed his father’s boat into a bridge, killing Beach.

Attorney Mark Tinsley told WCIV about the settlement with Greg Parker and his Parker’s Kitchens convenience store company.

Beach was thrown from the boat in the February 2019 crash in Beaufort County, South Carolina, but her body wasn’t found for a week, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

The family sued Alex and Maggie Murdaugh and their son Buster Murdaugh as well as Parker and his business for wrongful death. They settled with Buster Murdaugh and Maggie Murdaugh’s estate earlier this year. The suit alleges that Paul, then 19 and under age, used his brother’s identification and his mother’s credit card to buy the alcohol, and that the entire family was well aware of his drinking.

Alex Murdaugh is serving two life sentences for the murders of his wife Maggie and son Paul, who were gunned down on the family’s hunting property on June 7, 2021. Paul was awaiting trial for boating while intoxicated causing death at the time of the murders.

Murdaugh has also been alleged to have interfered in the investigation of the boat crash to protect his son. Several witnesses have said that the elder Murdaugh tried to pressure them into saying his son wasn’t the driver of the boat and that one of his friends on board was.

Alex Murdaugh has also been charged with scamming millions of dollars from his former law firm and its clients and is awaiting trial on more than 100 counts of financial crimes.
