An Alabama couple was arrested after their 2-year-old daughter allegedly tested positive for drugs on Saturday.
According to WALA, Tyler Still and Hannah Straszheim’s toddler was found naked and disorientated outside a neighbor’s apartment in Daphne. Police captain Reginald Ardi said they believe the child was unattended for at least 20 minutes.
WEAR reported that the neighbor discovered the child lying in front of their home while apparently suffering from heat exposure and dehydration. Still, 23, and Straszheim, 21, were located shortly after medical crews arrived at the scene.
Hospital staff subsequently notified authorities that Still and Straszheim’s daughter tested positive for cocaine. A search of their home reportedly uncovered a stash of drugs and guns that were within the child’s reach.
“They found the place in a pretty severe condition of disarray,” Ardis said, according to WALA.
WEAR reported that officers discovered cocaine, more than 100 Oxycontin pills, drug paraphernalia, and three semi-automatic handguns.
Still and Straszheim are charged with possession of a controlled substance, chemical endangerment of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They remain jailed on $25,000.
