A missing North Carolina woman’s boyfriend was found unresponsive in her vehicle on July 18, the day before a missing person report on her was filed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Family and friends say that 39-year-old Allisha Watts was last seen on July 16 with her boyfriend, James Dunmore, CrimeOnline reported.
Two days later, the vehicle was found in the parking lot of the Anson County Department of Motor Vehicles office in Polkton, about 45 miles from Charlotte, WTVD reported. The Anson County Sheriff’s Office said North Carolina state troopers saw the vehicle with a man later identified as Dunmore inside; he told the deputies he was taking a nap, but when the troopers returned to the lot three hours later, he was unresponsive.
He was taken to a hospital, but his current location and condition are unknown. The Anson County Sheriff’s Office said their last update came on July 20, and he was still alive at that time. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police did not provide an answer to a request about his status.
Previously, Watts’ sister, Shakeeta Utley, said the family had been told that Dunmore was in custody but not why.
After Anson County deputies connected the vehicle with Watts, they and Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers searched it and the area but found no signs of Watts. The vehicle was towed to Charlotte for processing.
Anyone with information about Watts is asked to contact the Anson County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County Sheriff’s Office or Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
