The boyfriend of Rachel Morin, a mother of five who vanished while hiking in Maryland last week, claimed he would never hurt her after police found a body Sunday.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, police are now conducting a homicide investigation after discovering a body, believed to be missing 37-year-old Morin, near a Bel Air trail on Sunday afternoon.
Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler stated that the medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, but investigators have “no doubt” she was the victim of foul play.
“While we firmly believe this is the body of Rachel Morin, that final determination, that final say belongs with the medical examiner,” Gahler said, according to FOX DC. “And that has not happened yet.”
Morin’s boyfriend, identified as Richard Tobin, 27, posted on Facebook that he “would never” do anything to harm her, according to Fox News Digital.
“I love Rachel, I would never do anything to her, let the family and I grieve. Yes I have a past but I also have 15 months clean and have changed as a person. Please,” Tobin wrote on Facebook.
Police have not named Tobin as a suspect in the case.
Meanwhile, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office asks the public to “refrain from posting any details you may know (or guess).”
Morin was last seen at around 6 p.m. Saturday after leaving home for a walk on the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air. Investigators found her car at the Williams Street entrance to the trail.
