‘So Much Anger’: Dad Who Killed 3 Sons Execution-Style Had ‘Short fuse,’ Friends Say

An Ohio father who allegedly killed his three sons in June was said to have anger issues prior to carrying out the triple slaying.

Chad Doerman, 32, reportedly planned to kill his sons, ages 3, 4, and 7, since October. A friend who has known Doerman for 15 years told The Messenger about his concerning demeanor — recounting an instance in which he almost got into a physical altercation over a parking spot.

“There was so much anger there,” the friend commented. “I don’t know where it came from, because he really seemed to have a good life.”

Another friend told the news outlet that Doerman was “very likable,” but he also was “a bomb ready to explode.”

On June 15, Doerman allegedly shot his three sons execution-style in front of his wife and stepdaughter. Clermont County prosecutor Mark Tekulve said Doerman shot his 4-year-old son twice in the head in their home before shooting the 7-year-old as he tried to run away. The 7-year-old was wounded from behind when Doerman then shot him twice in the head from close range.

After allegedly killing his two sons, Doerman then snatched his 3-year-old son from his mother’s arms and shot him in the head. The mother was reportedly shot in the hand during the June 15 incident.

The stepdaughter reportedly fled the home on foot and found a neighbor who called the police. Before police responded to the scene, the boys’ mother apparently told a 911 dispatcher her “babies had been shot.”

The three boys were found dead in a yard, while Doerman was found sitting next to the rifle on the porch. The father allegedly told police that he planned the slayings for months.

Doerman has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and assault. He remains jailed without bond.
