Missing Teen’s Car Found 15 Miles from Home in Santa Cruz Mountains

Investigators looking for a California teen who disappeared more than a month ago have found the girl’s car in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Katherine (Katie) Schneider was last seen on July 5 driving away from her home in Saratoga, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said. Last week, the sheriff’s office sent out a notice asking for helping finding her, and two days later, they announced that her white 2019 Honda Accord had been located.

The unoccupied vehicle was found Monday on Skyline Boulevard near Castle Rock State Park, about 15 miles from her home, SF Gate reported.

The teen’s mother, Nola Schneider, has been posting on Instagram about her daughter’s disappearance, directing people with information to the sheriff’s office.

“Thank you all for your unwavering love and support in our search for Katie Schneider (17), who has been missing since July 5th,” she werote. “Katie and her family deeply appreciate your concern. We are working closely with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and findingkids.org to bring her home safely.”

Schneider is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 115 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.
