A 2-month-old boy in Texas died on Tuesday after his mother allegedly left him in a hot car.
The infant’s mother found him unresponsive, and Houston police said she left him in the car as she took a4-year-old child to the Harris Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Clinic. The infant boy’s parents are cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to KRIV.
Meanwhile, the baby’s grandmother told KTRK that the mother did not realize her son was in the car at the time and she believed he was at home.
According to Chron, the infant boy’s father was not present when he was found unresponsive in the car but he did provide a statement to police.
KTRK reported that authorities will decide whether to file criminal charges after an autopsy is completed.
According to No Heat Stroke, the 2-month-old boy is the 16th child to die in a hot car this year. In 2022, 33 children died of vehicular heatstroke.
