A missing Arizona man has been found and hospitalized with gunshot wounds, but his father — who disappeared at the same time last month — remains missing.
In addition to finding the wounded Dalton Holvig, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said it found two bodies during a search of the property and arrested two people living at the residence an charges unrelated to the human remains.
“Multiple weapons and other potential evidence was recovered from the property and the investigation is in an aggressive and fluid state,” MCSO Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez Enriquez told KSAZ. “Further details will be released at the appropriate stage of the investigation.”
The dead have not been identified, Sheriff Paul Penzone told KTAR.
“Right now, they’re going through an autopsy to determine a couple things, first of all identity and then, secondarily, what was the cause of death,” he said.
Chad and Dalton Holvig were reported missing last month. The elder Holvig, 51, was last seen leaving his home in Tonopah on July 4 to visit his 25-year-old son in Goodyear. He was last heard from on July 6. Family members reported him missing on July 11.
Dalton Holvig was last seen near his home on July 10 and had a leg injury at the time.
Penzone said Dalton Holvig told investigators he was being kept at the home against his will and had not received treatment for several gunshot wounds. He called the case “very fluid, very complex and very concerning — just the level of violence that took place on that property.”
Investigators have not said specifically what led them to the home.
