Newly released video shows the deadly Pennsylvania home explosion over the weekend that left five people dead and multiple others injured, WTAE-TV reports.
Doorbell camera footage obtained by the television station shows a massive fire ball erupt around 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Rustic Ridge Estates neighborhood of the town of Plum, a suburb of Pittsburgh.
“This is certainly a sad, sad day and a sad time, for not just the folks in Plum but all the folks in the community and in this region,” Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said, according to the Associated Press.
Four adults and one child died in the blast, with two of the victims identified as 38-year-old Casey Clontz and 12-year-old son Keegan. The Clontz family home is four house away from the house that exploded.
Casey’s wife, Jennifer, were married for 14 years. Casey was reportedly an employee of Peoples Gas and Keegan was a rising junior in high school. The couple also have a 10-year-old daughter named Addie.
“Keegan and Casey were their most happy when they were spending time at the lake with their lake family and friends. They swam, did boating and loved cruising around in their golf cart,” a family statement reads, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
“Keegan and Casey will be missed by so many and will continue to be loved by so many including their family, friends, and community.”
Authorities have not released the identities of the three other victims who died. At least three other people were hospitalized, one of whom is in critical condition, according to WTAE-TV.
Two neighboring houses were destroyed and about 12 other residences were damaged. Dozens of firefighters who responded to the scene were treated for heat and other issues.
Crews shut off gas service in the neighborhood by 11:30 a.m. and checked for leaks. Mike Huwar, president of Peoples Gas, said the gas system was “operating as designed,” according to the AP.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion.
