Jodi Arias, who killed her ex-boyfriend in Arizona in 2008, reportedly is serving her life sentence as a prison library aide.
Arias drove to Travis Alexander’s Mesa home and stabbed him, leaving behind her DNA. Authorities found Alexander, 30, dead in his shower with his throat slit, a gunshot wound to his head, and stabs across his back and body.
Arias claimed Alexander’s death was the work of an intruder, but prosecutors believe she flew into a jealous rage when learning about Alexander dating someone else. At her trial, she testified that she blacked out and killed her ex-boyfriend after he dropped her camera.
Arias was convicted of Alexander’s slaying in 2013. In 2015, she was sentenced to life in prison and ordered to pay $32,000 to the victim’s family. Jurors deadlocked twice about sentencing Arias to death, according to KTVK.
People reported that Arias is housed in the medium-low “custody class” security wing at Perryville women’s prison in Goodyear. In 2016, she was written up for disrespecting staff.
According to the outlet, Arias worked in the store warehouse from 2017 to 2018 before taking on the role of library aide.
KTVK reported that Arias still sells artwork via her website. She claims the proceeds will be used to fund her appeal, as she says she is a victim of domestic violence.
