Woman Found Dead, Wrapped in Plastic Moved from Mississippi to LA in June

The woman found dead in a Los Angeles man’s bedroom in his mother’s home moved to California from Mississippi in June.

Authorities identified the woman as Hannah Rachel Collins, who, relatives said, last spoke with family members on August 7, just days after her 30th birthday, the New York Post reported.

The suspect’s mother found Collins’ body in her son’s room after noticing a “distinct gas smell,” as CrimeOnline previously reported.

She found the body wrapped in plastic and called 911.

Investigators have not released the cause of death or shared other details about her death, including how long her body may have been in the room. Police have not yet located the woman’s son, identified only as a 26-year-old Hispanic man.

Family members in Mississippi told the Post that Collins checked in with them “like clockwork” every week.

A friend told the Post that Collins had been “fun, kind and loved music and dancing but, ultimately, drugs took a hold of her.” The friend said that Collins came from a “wonderful family,” but that a gap formed once she embraced the party lifestyle.

I don’t like to hang out with people who do drugs or are intoxicated while they’re driving or stealing things,” the friend said.

“I’m in shock because what I want to associate with Hannah is the happier and healthier memories I have of her,” the friend said. “She probably sought that lifestyle with drugs, but you never imagine the end would be so cold and cruel.”

According to her Facebook page, Collins was originally from Richland, Mississippi, but lived for a time in Jackson as well.
