A missing father was one of two bodies found earlier this month on an Arizona property where the man’s son, who was also missing, was found wounded.
Chad Holvig, 51, was last seen leaving his home Tonopah on July 4 to visit his 25-year-old son, Dalton Holvig, in Goodyear, as CrimeOnline reported. He was last heard from on July 6. Family members reported him missing on July 11.
Dalton Holvig, who was reported missing a day earlier, was found on a property in Buckeye on August 4 with thee gunshot wounds. He told investigators he had been ziptied and held against his will for weeks without medical treatment.
This week, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office announced the identities of the two fatalities found on the property as the elder Holvig and Anthony Vayne, 31, KNXV reported. A cause of death has not been determined for Holvig, Sheriff Paul Penzone said, while investigators believe Vayne died from a gunshot wound.
Two residents of the property where the three victims were found have been arrested and booked on multiple charges. Roberto and Christina Bernal are charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a weapon/prohibited possesser, and kidnapping. The charges relate to Vayne’s death and Dalton’s shooting, Penzone said.
Investigators have not revealed further details about the deaths or their investigation but said charges related to Chad Holvig’s death were pending. They have also not said what led them to the Buckeye property.
Chad Holvig’s niece, Kayla Holvig, wrote on GoFundMe that her uncle was devoted to family and that “he will be missed every single day, on every special event, birthday and holiday, and all of our lives are going to feel extremely empty without him.”
