A Texas man is still hospitalized a month after another man intentionally rammed his motorcycle, sending him into a building and leaving him trapped beneath the vehicle.
KXII says the crash stemmed from an argument the two had moments earlier — over a woman they were both dating. And that’s not all. The man now in a medically induced coma at a hospital in Plano was dating two women, and the women are friends.
Amanda Blakely, whose husband is now charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, said that she started dating Cody Kuntz, 33, after she and Daniel Blakely, 26, separated about two months ago. Daniel Blakely and Kuntz got into an argument in the Lowe’s parking lot on Friday.
“Daniel got out of the car, was in his face, telling him to hit him, everything else, Cody was just standing there,” Amanda Blakely said.
When Blakely got back into his car, she said, Kuntz rode off on his motorcycle, and Blakely followed for about a mile.
“No one knew Daniel had it in him to be that angry or do something that stupid,” Amanda said.
Police said Blakely caught up with Kuntz behind an Autozone store and rammed him. Kuntz was flown to Medical City Plano in critical condition, where he has undergone several surgeries, according to Kacie Gunter Amuda, a friend of Amanda Blakely who said that she, too, is in a relationship with Kuntz.
“It’s a big mess and I understand it’s like crazy, it’s drama,” Amuda said.
As for Kuntz, Amuda said that so far doctors say he’s going to pull through, but he’s currently on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma, and “anything could happen at this point.”
The Blakelys had been married for about four years, while Amuda said she’d dated Kuntz “off and on for 8 years.”
“We break up for a short period, few days tops, and he always comes home,” she said.
Daniel Blakely is being held at the Grayson County jail on a $1 million bond.
Meanwhile, Kuntz remains in a hospital bed, according to post on his Facebook page. The status of Blakley’s court case is unclear.
