Dismembered remains found at an Oregon landfill last week reportedly belong to a woman who vanished weeks earlier.
Kara Taylor, 49, was reported missing by her roommate, Jamon Fritsch, 47, on July 27, two days after she was last seen at their home. Fritsch was arrested for Taylor’s murder on August 7 — four days before her remains were discovered at Coffin Butte Landfill, according to KOIN.
Prosecutors said Fritsch bought zip ties, tarps, a saw blade, a black tote, and bags before contacting the police regarding Taylor. Fritsch not only allegedly confessed to dismembering Taylor and discarding her remains at multiple landfills, but he told cops they would not be able to find her body.
The Oregonian reported that Taylor, 49, had substance abuse issues and her husband filed for divorce in June. She moved out of their Washington home the same month and eventually moved in with Fritsch in Oregon City.
Alarms were raised after Taylor’s disappearance because she left behind her 22-year-old autistic daughter who required round-the-clock care, according to KGW.
Prior to Fritsch’s arrest, police raided his home and reportedly found evidence of a homicide. Blood was discovered in his bedroom, bathroom, bathtub, and on a saw, according to The Oregonian.
Fritsch was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree abuse of a corpse. He remains jailed without bond.
