Maryland officials said they plan to install a camera system on the trail where a woman was found earlier this month.
County Executive Bob Cassilly told WJZ that they are working with experts to determine how many cameras they will need and where they will be located on the Ma and Pa trail. Rachel Morin, 37, was found dead in a drainage ditch on the trail on August 6, a day after her boyfriend reported her missing.
Details regarding how Morin died are scarce, but Hartford County sheriff Jeffrey Gahler described it as a “criminal homicide.”
Cassilly did not provide a date as to when the cameras will be installed, but he said he hoped it would be done as soon as possible.
“I’m not willing to hazard a guess as to how many cameras we need to provide the level of coverage or where those cameras need to be placed. We defer to the experts who do this stuff for a living,” he told WJZ.
On Friday, investigators contacted five witnesses who were walking along Ma and Pa Trail from the Route 24 tunnel on the night Morin was supposedly in the vicinity. Further, investigators said they have fielded hundreds of leads in this case.
No arrests have been made.
