An Ohio woman was sentenced on Monday to 15 years to life for killing her boyfriend and friend last year by intentionally driving her car into a building.
Mackenzie Shirilla, 19, received two concurrent 15-year sentences for the deaths of her boyfriend and friend, Dominic Russo, 20, and Davion Flanagan, 19. WEWS reported that Shirilla was convicted last week of murder, felonious assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, drug possession, and possessing criminal tools.
In July 2022, Shirilla was driving at 100 mph when she intentionally crashed into the Plidco Building in Strongsville. Flanagan and Russo died at the scene while Shirilla was hospitalized. Prosecutors said Shirilla crashed the car to end her relationship with Russo. The cited a disagreement which occurred two weeks before the deadly crash in which Shirilla threatened to crash the car, according to NBC News.
In addition to the prison sentence, Shirilla’s driver’s license was permanently suspended.
