The Harford County sheriff warned if the accused killer of Maryland mom-of-5 Rachel Morin isn’t caught soon, he can and will strike again.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, police said Morin was found dead on August 6, off the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air. She was found a little over 12 hours after her boyfriend, Richard Tobin, reported her missing when she didn’t return from a run on the trail.
Afterward, Maryland State Police examined the DNA left at the crime scene and processed it in the CODIS database. The DNA came back as a match for a man under suspicion for breaking into a Los Angeles home and assaulting a young girl in March.
Security footage released last week showed the suspect leaving the victim’s home. He appears to be a Hispanic male in his early to mid-20s, who stands around 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 160 pounds. Police are currently trying to identify him.
“Somebody out there knows who he is–off of what we’ve been able to release, and we need that person to come forward and help us get this monster off the street,” Gahler told NewsNation Wednesday.
“This guy has no regard for human life, for the value of human life, and he will reoffend if he’s not apprehended.”
CrimeOnline’s Nancy Grace, who spoke to Gahler earlier this week, agrees.
“I agree with Sheriff Gahler who I just spoke with in-depth… Look at him! He walked out without even putting his shirt on!” Grace told Fox News while describing the suspect. “He’s not coming up in any of the DNA databases. That’s why we can’t get a name.”
“But I can tell you this much: If you have seen what I have been described to me as how Rachel Morin was left dead, [it’s a] complete disregard for human life.”
Gahler, who said so far police have received around 350 tips, added that Morin suffered a “violent attack.” Investigators are hoping that more tips will lead to information that can help identify the suspect.
“Somebody out there knows who he is and that tip has not come through to us yet,” Gahler said.
