A 37-year-old Florida man was arrested this week after he shot and killed his sister during a row over a power bill.
Rowby Severe, 37, has been charged with first degree murder in the death of 41-year-old Magael Brown and aggravated battery for injuries caused to a second sister, according to jail records.
“Severe called 911 and admitted to shooting his sister,” the arrest report says, according to WESH.
The surviving sister said that Severe was angry about the power bill and went to his room to get a gun. The two sisters locked themselves in another bedroom, but he forced his way in, punched them, and hit them with the gun.
Brown tried to stand up, the sister said, and Severe shot her in the head and left the room.
The surviving sister was taken to the hospital, suffering from multiple injuries to the head and face that doctors say will likely cause permanent disfigurment.
The three siblings had already been embroiled in conflict over the house where they lived, WESH reported. Court documents show that their mother left the house to the three of them when she died. Three years ago, Severe and the surviving sister sued Brown because they wanted to sell the home and she wanted to keep it.
The case was still making its way through the court system. Court records from July showed that Brown was trying to buy her siblings out.
Severe is being held without bond pending a bond hearing.
