Newly released body camera footage shows Lindsay Shiver’s mother aligning with her in-laws and husband, in a custody dispute months prior to her alleged involvement in hiring a hitman to end his life.
Fox News Digital reports that on April 30, Lindsay Shiver’s mother-in-law, Robin, called 911 and reported Lindsay for harassment. The footage, provided by the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, shows Robin in the driver’s seat of her Lexus, with her husband, Allen Shiver, in the backseat, at a nearby gas station.
“She’s delusional, and we know that,” Robin told the responding deputy. “Her mom and husband and myself are all like, you got to go get some help, you got to go get some help. You’re mental, mental, and she denies it.”
Shiver, who reportedly owns a gun, allegedly threatened Robin’s life and told her she would never see her grandchildren again. Months later, Shiver was arrested for allegedly plotting to kill her former football star husband.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Shiver was arrested in July in the Bahamas after police said they uncovered her plans to haver her 38-year-old husband, Robert Shiver, murdered. Bahamian police also arrested Lindsay’s alleged lover Terrance Bethel, 28, as well as alleged hitman, Farron Newbold, 29, in connection with the plot.
Earlier this month, Bahamian Supreme Court Justice Cherly Grant Thompson ordered Shiver’s release after she posted $100,000. Shiver is required to wear an ankle monitor, abide by an 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, and stay away from her husband. She also cannot leave the Bahamas and had to surrender her travel documents.
According to police, the alleged plot was exposed after a break-in at a bar where Bethel worked. While investigating the incident, police seized Bethel’s phone and saw messages to and from Bethel that implicated him, Shiver, and Newbold in the accused murder plot.
Bethel publicly denied the charges against him after his jail release earlier this month.
“Everybody says things out of frustration,” Bethel told DailyMail, explaining that there was never a serious conversation or plan of killing Richard.
“Go and get the transcripts from the police,” he said. ‘They have had both of my phones for three weeks. They’ve been through every single message – there’s nothing there.”
“None of us have anything to hide. People are taking everything at face value and defaming us.”
Bethel added that he loves Shiver and has “too much respect for her and her children to want to hurt their father.”
Court records show that Robert filed for divorce in April upon discovering that Shiver was engaging in “adulterous conduct” by having an affair with Bethel, blowing apart the couple’s marriage.
Robert’s petition sought primary custody of the kids and exclusive use of their $2.5 million house; he also contended he shouldn’t have to pay Shiver alimony.
At a previous court hearing, Shiver responded by alleging that Robert subjected her to “physical and mental cruel treatment,” which included domestic violence. She also denied the affair, with her lawyers writing in a court filing that “any extramarital relationship defendant has had was during the parties’ separation and legally condoned by husband.”
Shiver is seeking primary custody of the children and payments from Robert for child support and alimony, in addition to sole use of the couple’s house.
“Wife feels unsafe in the marital home and has installed locks on the interior doors of the home for protection,” Shiver’s lawyer wrote in seeking a restraining order.
“Husband has abused the wife in the home in the children’s presence on multiple occasions, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.”
A former beauty pageant contestant, Lindsay was a cheerleader at Auburn University and graduated with a degree in marketing. Lindsay met Robert at Auburn, who was on the school’s football team. He played briefly for the Atlanta Falcons before beginning a career in business.
