ANOTHER GENDER REVEAL PARTY GOES SIDEWAYS, PILOT DEAD

A gender reveal party went horribly wrong this weekend when a plane that sprayed pink powder at the gathering crashed, leading to the pilot’s death, Aviation News reports.

Video of the tragedy has gone viral on social media.

Footage of the incident shows a Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee zooming over a celebration on Saturday in the town of San Pedro, Sinaloa, Mexico. The happy couple can be seen standing in front of a large sign that reads “OH BABY” surrounded by balloons.

As the plane approached, it released a pink substance, indicating that the baby would be a girl, prompting cheers from attendees and a kiss between the soon-to-be mom and dad.

But the joyous occasion suddenly turned heartbreaking when the plane shot up, rotated and one of the plane’s wings buckled. The plane appeared to lose altitude and spiral out of control before the video pans back to the celebration.

The pilot, 32-year-old Luis Angel N., was found on the ground at the crash site and rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, local media report.

Gender reveal parties have been fatal in the past. An expectant father died in February 2021 in New York after an explosive device he was building blew up, according to CNN. An Iowa grandmother also was killed in October 2019 by shrapnel from a pipe bomb built to explode with powder, according to the Des Moines Register.

This also is not the first time that pilots have died during gender reveals. In 2021, two pilots were killed during a general reveal event when they crashed their Cessna into water in Cancun, according to Aviation News.
