A Florida teen was arrested Saturday in connection with the death a child and another teen, who lost their lives during what police are calling a drive by shooting.
According to the Orlando Police Department, police arrested Nico Brown, 15, on suspicion of murder in the deaths of Isaiyah Wright, 19, and Ajahliyah Hashim, 6, following a shooting Tuesday in the 1100 block of Poppy Avenue in Orlando. The incident happened a little after 8 p.m.
Hashim was sitting inside her home with her mother, when bullets smashed through the home and into the living room, striking them both. Hashim passed away at an area hospital, while her mother is expected to survive her injuries.
Click Orlando reports that someone dropped Wright off at a hospital, where he passed away from gunshot wounds. Police hasn’t specified whether Wright was the intended target, but confirmed that the child and mother were not.
“That was my son, and his family is mourning. His dad’s side is mourning, and nobody deserves to lose a child,” Wright’s mother, Stacey Hall, said during a vigil for the victims held Saturday. “If anybody knows anything when it comes to my son, I do greatly appreciate if you say something.”
“I don’t know if he was a target. I don’t know if he was set up. There’s a lot of things going through my head regarding my son.”
WESH reports that incident is still under investigation and police are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Orlando police. To report an anonymous tip, contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
