North Carolina authorities have asked for the public’s help in identifying a suspected homicide victim whose body was discovered in a lake last week.
Chatham County police told WRAL that several families have contacted them regarding the woman who was found dead in Jordan Lake on August 29. While a deputy claimed they have identified her and are awaiting to notify her family, public information officer Randall Rigsbee told the news outlet that a positive identification is pending and they are still seeking tips.
Police have released a forensic sketch of the woman, who was described as being 5 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. She was reportedly wearing blue jeans, a gray shirt, and a pearl necklace. An earring was recovered not far from her body, according to The News & Observer.
WNCN reported that a boater who spotted the woman’s body in the water called the police.
Anyone with information regarding the woman’s identity or who witnessed suspicious activity at Jordan Lake on August 29 should call the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 919-542-2911.
