Accused NY Slasher Threatens Same to Arraignment Judge

A New Jersey woman arrested for allegedly slashing a stranger in the face in front of a New York pizza shop threatened to do the same to a judge on Monday, before the judge sent her away for a psychiatric evaluation.

Ola Albanni, 52, was charged with attacking a 65-year-old woman with a kitchen knife outside 2 Bros Pizza Friday night, leaving the woman with a gash that required six stitches to close up, according to the New York Post.

She was seen walking on the street wearing a furry black jacket, a bucket hat, and pink sequined shorts in images released by New York police while they searched for her. She was arrested on Sunday, with the knife used in the attack in her bag.

“I’m going to slash you in the face too if you put me in the cell for a long time,” Albanni told Judge Miriam Best during her arraignment on Monday.

She repeated the threat a second time, the Post said, and launched an incoherent rant before Best ordered her out of the courtroom and into a psychiatric evaluation.

The Post said that Albanni, from Hoboken, previously punched a 34-year-old woman on the sidewalk in May and threatened another stranger with a boxcutter. She was charged with misdemeanor assault and menacing for those incidents and released without bond, but she later failed to appear in court on those charges and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

For Friday’s attack, she was charged with first-degree assault and faces up to 25 years in prison.

The Post reported that knife attacks in New York are up 5 percent over the same time last year.
