The unidentified man also set multiple vehicles on fire before fleeing in a silver Honda SRV. No troopers were in the vehicles at the time.
Police said the man should be considered “armed and dangerous” and asked the public to avoid state police posts on Wednesday. Only the Sault Ste Marie post would be closed, however.
The suspect was last seen heading southbound on the Interstate 75 business loop.
