Pennsylvania fugitive Danelo Cavalcante may have been spotted overnight and could be driving a stolen van, authorities said early Sunday as the manhunt for the convicted murderer enters its 11th day.
Shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sunday, police said they believed Cavalcante was recorded by a Ring camera at a home in East Pikeland Township, about 20 miles north of where he had been spotted previously, WPVI-TV reports.
Images released by the Upper Providence Township Police Department show a man wearing a green or yellow hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap, green prison pants and white shoes.
The man depicted in the images does not have a mustache or beard, which contrasts from earlier photos released of Cavalcante that show him with facial hair.
Cavalcante has ties to the area of the most recent sighting, according to WPVI-TV, and he may have been seen overnight at a Lutheran church several miles away in Spring City, too.
Police also said Sunday they believe Cavalcante may be driving a 2020 white Ford Transit van with a refrigeration unit on top. The vehicle, with Pennsylvania license plate ZST8818, was reported stolen from Baily’s Dairy.
The new reports come after witnesses reported sightings of Cavalcante twice on Friday in the Longwood Gardens area, according to CBS Philadelphia.
Cavalcante has eluded authorities since escaping Chester County Prison on August 31. He had just been sentenced to life without parole for stabbing to death his former girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, in front of her two young children.
Authorities alleged that he murdered Brandao to prevent her from alerting police that he is also wanted for another killing in Brazil, his native country, according to the Associated Press.
Since the daring escape, which was caught on camera, hundreds of law enforcement personnel have descended on the region, a suburb southeast of Philadelphia.
Cavalcante, 34, is described as about 5 feet tall and 120 pounds; he has brown eyes and dark curly hair.
A $20,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Cavalcante’s capture. Authorities are urging local residents to report any sightings of him, monitor their home security cameras and keep homes and vehicles locked.
To report information about Cavalcante’s whereabouts, call 911 or 717-562-2987.
The Pennsylvania State Police are expected to provide an update at a press conference later Sunday.
