A decomposed body found inside a Houston area parking garage has been identified as Monica Alcantar, who was reported missing weeks ago by relatives.
According to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, police found the 22-year-old in the driver’s seat of her vehicle, parked at the Dun Huang Plaza on Bellaire. ABC 13 reports that family members reported Alcantar missing on August 26 after last spotting her that day leaving the Leawood Condominiums.
“People need to stop looking for her because she’s found,” Alcantar’s aunt, Briony Amador, told the outlet.
Police do not suspect foul play at this time but say a man with a black Dodge Challenger was spotted on security camera in the parking lot around the same time as Alcantar.
“He would have been, in theory, the last person to see her,” Amador said. “That person should come forward and should say if they’re involved in any way. There’s an investigation. There’s no reason to hide. They’re going to find you.”
The man, according to police, appears to be either white or Hispanic. Anyone with information should contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
