‘It is not a murder-suicide’: 2 Children, 2 Adults & 3 Dogs Found Murdered in Illinois Home, Suspect on the Loose

Police in Romeoville, Illinois, say that a family of four along with their three dogs were found fatally shot in their home.

People reports that police named the adult victims as Alberto Rolon and Zoraida Bartolomei, both in their 30s. The names and ages of the two children were not yet been released. All of the victims were found deceased inside residence in the the 500 block of Concord Avenue.

“It is not a murder-suicide,” Romeoville police deputy chief Chris Burne said during a news conference on Monday. “Right now, we are investigating it as a murder.”

Police performed a welfare check at the home around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, after one of the victims failed to show up for work at 6 a.m. and was unreachable by phone all day.

“A member of the family did not show up for work at 6 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, September 17 and did not respond to phone calls throughout the day, resulting in family members becoming concerned,” police said.

Officers discovered the bodies of the victims, along with three dogs, with fatal gunshot wounds. The shootings likely occurred sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday night and 5 a.m. Sunday morning, police said, adding that they don’t believe the public is in danger.

“Due to the time frame that has gone by, more than 18 hours from the time we were contacted, we are not asking anybody to shelter in place. We are not actively looking for anybody in the area,” Deputy Chief Chris Burne said Monday.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Romeoville police at 815-886-7219.
